On-Site Aviation Management begins at the same point as Entry to Service \u2014 the CAA has approved the AOC in principle and requires a demonstration or proving flight \u2014 but it is the path for companies that do not yet have their own Accountable Manager, or that want experienced hands on the controls. If you choose Aviation Management, you do not need Entry to Service: everything in that phase is included here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What management adds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the aircraft, people, and systems of entry to service, this service provides hands-on, day-to-day management of the new operation while preparing for the first revenue flights. I take the role of Accountable Manager \/ Managing Director or CEO: implementing the organizational structure; managing day-to-day flight operations, maintenance, ground operations, dispatch, and customer service; maintaining liaison with the civil aviation authority; and holding schedule, budget, and safety performance to plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the first flights<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Once the AOC has been awarded and entry to service is complete, my experienced team can continue to manage the newly minted seaplane service on a two-to-five-year contract designed around one goal: the transfer of skills to the host country\u2019s employees and management. The measure of success is not how long the contract lasts, but how confidently your own people run the operation when it ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I have held exactly these roles in exactly these circumstances: Managing Director and Chief Pilot of Sky Atoll in the Maldives, taking a new Kodiak amphibious operation from incorporation through proving flights; Director of Seaplane Operations at Air Juan in the Philippines, building an unprecedented C208B EX operation from scratch; and Flight Operations Manager at Trans Maldivian Airways, where the fixed-wing seaplane operation I established grew from 40 to 400 passengers a day.
